Software updates for your multimedia system and navigation map ensures your vehicle always has the latest software and map information. Genesis Connected Services makes map updates even more convenient by allowing your Genesis vehicle to be updated without the need for you to download software updates using your computer and a USB drive. Using your vehicle’s modem and data connection, software updates may be downloaded from inside the vehicle conveniently “over the air” using its Genesis Connected Services connection. This time-saving method provides a more convenient way to get the latest updates for your multimedia software and navigation maps.

How do I know if my vehicle is eligible for OTA (over-the-air) updates?

The following is required to get OTA updates:

  • A supported Genesis model: 2021+ Genesis G90, G80, GV80, as well as all 2022 and newer Genesis models                                                                                           
  • Active Genesis Connected Services subscription                                                                                                                                   
  • Strong cellular signal to your vehicle

When will I receive an OTA update in my vehicle?

Updates for your vehicle’s software will be available periodically and you should receive alerts depending on your notification settings. You will be notified in advance via e-mail and from your Genesis Intelligent Assistant app alerting you that an update will be available soon. Your vehicle will automatically download the update to the navigation system using the vehicle’s Genesis Connected Services connection. A prompt will appear on the vehicle’s navigation screen when the update is ready to be installed. You may choose to start the install now or install it later.

Depending on the connection quality to your vehicle, the update may take 20 to 60 minutes to download. You will be prompted on the screen once the download is completed and the update is ready to install. Your navigation system will be unavailable during the installation process. The update takes about 15 minutes to complete and your navigation system will be unavailable during the installation process. You do not need to be inside the vehicle during the update. When the update is completed, the system will automatically shut down and you will receive a notification from Genesis Connected Services. Your vehicle will be on the updated software the next time you turn it on.
