At Genesis, your safety is our top priority, and we’re committed to enhancing your driving experience. The Forward Attention Warning (FAW) system is designed to help detect when the driver is distracted or drowsy while driving.
We want to make sure you have the information you need to drive with confidence.
What is the Forward Attention Warning System?
The Forward Attention Warning (FAW) system helps detect if you’re distracted or drowsy while driving by using a camera inside the vehicle.
How Does It Work?
The FAW system is activated by your facial cues. It will gently alert you with a sound and a message on your dashboard.
Important Things to Consider
While the FAW system is a great safety tool, there are a few situations where it might not work as well:
- Sunglasses: Polarized sunglasses will block the system to see your eyes.
- Obstructions: If you’re wearing a hat, have hair in your face, or your arm is blocking the camera (like when you hold the steering wheel at 12 o'clock), the system might not detect distraction signs.
- Makeup: Heavy eye makeup can also interfere with the system's ability to track your focus.
If something gets in the camera's way, you’ll see a “Forward Attention Warning disabled. Camera obscured.” message on your dashboard.
Check out your owner's manual for a full list of situations that could affect how the FAW system works. And don’t worry—FAW does not record or store video footage, so your privacy is always protected.
Easily Turn FAW ON and OFF
You can quickly toggle the FAW system on or off whenever you like through your vehicle's settings. Just follow these steps:
- Go to Setup.
- Select Vehicle.
- Choose Driver Assistance
- Select Driver Attention Warning.
- Toggle Forward Attention Warning on or off.

Genesis’s Forward Attention Warning system is designed to help keep you safe and focused on the road. Please reference to your owner’s manual for complete details.
** Disclaimer: Forward Attention Warning monitors the driver’s eye position using the vehicle’s in-cabin camera and may provide an audible warning if it detects driver inattention or drowsiness. It does not detect and provide an alert in every situation. It is the driver's responsibility to remain alert at all times. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations.
