Genesis’ i-Pedal system, is a part of a comprehensive EV regenerative braking system and allows one-pedal driving and maximum regenerative energy capture. It’s designed to maximize energy recovery, improve efficiency, and make EV driving smoother.
How to Enable i-Pedal
- Pull the Left Paddle Shifter
Pull and release the left paddle shifter until i-Pedal is activated. The instrument cluster will display the current regenerative braking level. After passing regen braking level 3, i-Pedal will be enabled. - Enjoy One Pedal Driving
- i-Pedal will automatically apply the optimal amount of regen braking when you lift your foot off of the accelerator pedal. This will make it easy to slow down as simply lifting your foot will cause the vehicle to slow.
- Maximize Energy Recovery with Max Regen
- The Max Regen setting can also be used when in i-Pedal mode. Max Regen can be manually engaged by pulling and holding down the left paddle.
- Max Regen will apply maximum regen braking as long as you hold down the left paddle. You can even come to a complete stop by holding down the left paddle, all without using the brake pedal.
Key Features to Remember
● Turning Off i-Pedal: Switching to reverse or turning off the vehicle will deactivate i-Pedal. If turning off, when the car restarts, regenerative braking will return to its default level of Level 3.
● Seamless Deceleration: Max Regen ensures smooth and controlled stopping power, ideal for urban traffic or downhill drives.
Mastering regenerative braking can help improve the vehicle's energy efficiency and has many advantages. Here’s how:
● Reduced wear on traditional brakes.
● Energy recovery during deceleration.
● Enhanced range optimization, especially in stop-and-go traffic.
Pro Tips for Using the i-Pedal Effectively
● Anticipate Stops: Gradually lift off the accelerator to maximize regenerative braking.
● Combine with Eco Drive Mode: Pair i-Pedal with the Genesis EV’s Eco drive mode for maximum efficiency.
● Practice Makes Perfect: The more it's used, the more natural one-pedal driving will feel.
