The latest Genesis key fob is sleek and minimalist, featuring a smooth, pocket-friendly design. To maintain a clean look, the buttons are placed along the sides rather than on the front.

This layout aligns with the refined style of the vehicle itself, but if you’re used to a more traditional key fob, it may take a moment to adjust.

Once you become familiar with the button locations, using it feels natural with just a light grip and thumb press. 

Getting Comfortable with the Key Fob Controls

Accessing and using the features of your key fob:

1. Button Placement: The Lock, Unlock, and Trunk buttons are located along the sides of the key fob. Grip the sides with your index and thumb. Then press into the button, to lock/unlock the doors and open your trunk.  
2. Remote Start Function (if equipped): Press the Lock button and then hold the Remote Start button (circular arrow) for 2 seconds. Make sure your vehicle is locked, and you’re within operating range.
3. Smart Key Proximity: The fob should be within 20–30 feet of the vehicle for remote features. For best performance, avoid blocking the signal with metal or electronics in your pocket or bag.

These quick tips can help you use your key fob with more ease and confidence:

●     Holding the fob flat or pointing the buttons outward can improve response.

●     Try using your thumb and fingers in a pinch grip to press the side buttons more precisely.

●     Keep the fob’s signal clear by avoiding tightly packed bags or compartments.
