Understanding the Power Charging Doors in 2026 and Newer Genesis EVs

2026 and newer Genesis EVs come equipped with power charging doors that offer fully automatic opening and closing. It is also possible to monitor charge levels and stop charging through the interface behind the charging doors.

The Genesis Power Charging Door

The location of the Power Charging Door may vary per vehicle. In the Electrified GV70 and Electrified G80, the door is seamlessly integrated into the front grille. In the GV60, it is located on the passenger side rear. Here’s how it works:

  1. Multiple Ways to Open:
    • The charging door locks and unlocks along with all the other doors in the vehicle. To open, you will need to unlock the doors via keyfob, interior unlock button press, or via remote command from the Genesis Intelligent Assistant mobile app.
    • On the Electrified GV70 and Electrified G80, press the triangle-marked button to the upper right of the charging door to open. On the GV60, press the area marked with three lines to open.
    • The GV60 Smart Keyfob also has a button that can open and close the power charging door when pressed down and held.
    • On all cars, you can also press and hold the charging door button on the dashboard to open.
  2. Closing After Charging:
    • After charging has finished and the charging nozzle has been removed, close the inner cover on the Electrified GV70 and Electrified G80 and then press the triangle-marked button again to close.
    • On the GV60, press the inside circular close button to close the charging door.
    • On all cars, you can also press and hold the charging door button on the dashboard to close.

How to Stop Charging Your Electrified Genesis from Outside

  1. With the power charging door open, press and hold the square immediate charging button until you hear a click as the charging nozzle disconnects.
  2. Pull out the charging nozzle to disconnect and close all the charging doors.
